Lokalize plans compared
Lokalize has four plans — Basic, Pro, Premium, and Business. This page compares what each one includes and explains how billing works so you can pick the right fit.
How billing works
- Most plans include a monthly word allowance for AI translation. You can also buy word packs anytime for extra words.
- Usage is deducted from your word packs first, then your monthly allowance.
- Your monthly allowance resets on the 1st of each calendar month (UTC). Unused words don't roll over.
- Word packs never expire and stack on top of your monthly balance.
- Theme content translation is always free and never uses credits.
- Manual translations are unlimited and free on every plan.
- Image-translation limits are lifetime, not monthly — and updating an already-translated image is free.

Basic (Free)
Basic is for trying Lokalize and running small, occasional translations.
- No monthly word allowance — AI translation runs on word packs you buy as needed ($6.49 per 20,000 words). Manual and theme translation are always free.
- 2 AI-enabled languages, 10 glossary entries, 20 lifetime image translations.
- Default engine only. No Auto-Translate.
Upgrade when you add a third language, translate regularly, or want the ChatGPT engine.
Pro — $8.99/mo
Pro adds a monthly allowance and the ChatGPT engine.
- 30,000 words/month, word packs at $5.49 per 20,000.
- 5 AI languages, 50 glossary entries, 100 lifetime image translations.
- Default + ChatGPT engines.
- Apply glossary to existing translations is unlocked.
- No Auto-Translate yet.
Premium — $19.99/mo
Premium is the first plan with Auto-Translate, so new and updated content stays translated automatically.
- 100,000 words/month, word packs at $3.99 per 20,000.
- 10 AI languages, 500 glossary entries, unlimited image translations.
- Default + ChatGPT engines.
- Auto-Translate included.
Business — $39.99/mo
Business is built for large catalogs and many markets.
- 400,000 words/month, word packs at $3.49 per 20,000 (the best rate).
- 20 AI languages (Shopify's maximum), unlimited glossary entries and image translations.
- Auto-Translate included.

Upgrading, downgrading, and cancelling
- Upgrade — your word allowance is immediately reset to the new, higher amount, and any new features become available instantly. Your purchased word packs are preserved.
- Downgrade — you keep your remaining balance, but plan limits are enforced right away. If you have more AI languages than the new plan allows, the most recently added ones are disabled. If you have more glossary entries than allowed, the newest are removed (oldest kept). If your engine isn't available on the new plan, it resets to Default. Existing translations in Shopify are never deleted.
- Cancel — you're moved to Basic (Free). You keep any remaining word balance and packs, and all existing translations stay in Shopify. Your image-translation usage carries over, since it's a lifetime count.
